Moloka`i has two
weekly community newspapers: The Dispatch and the Molokai Advertiser-News.
Off-island papers available on a daily basis are the Maui News, Honolulu
Advertiser, and Honolulu Star-Bulletin. These papers are available in Kaunakakai
at grocery and variety stores.
Banks
The two main banks
on the island are American Savings Bank and the Bank of Hawaii. Both banks
have ATMs at their branches in Kaunakakai.
Postal Service
The
main post office is in Kaunakakai. There are also post offices in Ho'olehua,
Kualapu'u, Maunaloa, and Kalaupapa. A favorite post card to mail home from
Moloka`i is a coconut. The post office in Ho'olehua specializes in this
service by having coconuts ready to be mailed. However, if you choose your
own coconut, you can go to any post office and mail it. Shake the coconut.
It is has water inside. It will be more expensive to mail since the coconut
water inside makes it heavier but your friends could try sprouting it or
opening it for fresh coconut. The coconuts available at Post-A-Nut in Ho'olehua
are dry coconuts.
