WHO WE ARE
The MVA is a nonprofit corporation organized by visitor industry members, companies, and associations. Incorporated on January 20, 1984, the MVA is Moloka`i's official tourism marketing organization responsible for marketing Moloka`i's brand name image globally and promoting the island. Operating funds come from three sources: County of Maui, State of Hawaii via the Hawaii Tourism Authority, and membership dues.
OUR PURPOSE
The MVA's purpose is to market the island and fill current accommodations on the island. This is an important goal, since Moloka`i wants to "stay Moloka`i." Unique among the Hawaiian Islands, Moloka`i has been able to remain a rural island where people of Hawaiian heritage are the majority and where the Hawaiian culture flouishes as a way of life throughout the island. Unlike the other Hawaiian Islands, Moloka`i has chosen to not have major development. And no major development is the island's major tourism asset.

What Moloka`i doesn't have, is what is drawing adventuresome visitors from all around the world. Moloka`i doesn't have crowds, traffic lights, traffic congestion or rush hour.

What Moloka`i offers visitors is a rural way of life; a place where the Hawaiian culture is a way of life, not on sale in a stage show; pristine, wild places many of which are unique habitats; abundant wildlife and plants endangered on most other islands; secluded but easily accessible beaches and where 6 people on a beach is a crowd; healthy, growing coral reefs; a lifestyle where 60% of the food eaten comes from the land and waters of Moloka`i; where family or ohana is what is important in daily life; where the milky way is the brightest light at night and the geckos the loudest noise at night; and where Hawaiian foods are common fare.

To keep Moloka`i quality of living the same, the MVA works closely with the community to assist in offering visitors to the island an experience of a lifetime, but not stress the island's resources or its residents. The residents enjoy visitors because they like to share their cherished existence with people who share their values of family and being easy on the land so it will share her abundance.

The MVA's job is to find that handful of visitors in the world that will appreciate the natural wonders and rural, Hawaiian traditions of the people of Moloka`i.

AFFILIATIONS
Moloka`i is a partner with the Maui Visitors Bureau and Destination Lanai. These three islands make up the County of Maui. Hence, when appropriate, the three islands share resources and promote the three islands under Maui: The Magic Isles. Through the Maui Visitors Bureau, Moloka`i is a member of the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau. For more information, contact the Moloka`i Visitors Association.
